Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a humanitarian program that allows nationals of designated countries to remain in the United States when returning to their home country would be unsafe due to armed conflict, natural disaster, or other extraordinary conditions. TPS holders from countries like Venezuela, Haiti, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Nepal, Syria, and others currently benefit from this protection. However, TPS is temporary by design and does not create a direct pathway to permanent residence.
